To be fair, it doesn't make too much sense to push credit for the term "Google Sky". Pretty much straight after the release of Google Earth in 2005 just about every VO person I know would say in the pub "well, Google Sky can't be long". When Andy Connolly visited us here in Edinburgh in Autumn 2005 he showed us NASA Worldwind and it was clear from his conversation where this was going, as it was when Ryan demoed it at the May 2006 interop meeting. As a matter of fact, I originally contacted Google with the idea (here is a timeline http://blog.oglesky.com/2007/08/birth-of-googlesky-1-first-contact_22.htm) and Carol Christian and I have been involved since the beginning. Google, in fact, decided to go ahead with the project only when they realized the potential of partnering with the Space Telescope Science Institute.
