It turns out that there is less need for the chancellor to be a darling and chip in with a few bob. The winning bid for the Lovell telescope was a shade under £1e7, so that’s a good chunk of this years shortfall sorted.

Out of interest, does anyone know why the Diamond website front page has no mention of the STFC? They haven’t even included a logo.
